"Actionism" to Improve OSHA Safety Training

Goat Pen loves OSHA’s mission and all the good work they do. Our founder is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer who designed and delivered the first Tree Industry Tailored OSHA 10 conducted at a tree care industry tradeshow at the 2024 Arbor Expo.

As beneficial as OSHA is to the American Worker, they have lost their way and need a reset.  OSHA has restricted competition to the self-paced online OSHA Authorized Training market since 2019, effectively granting a protected oligopoly of grandfathered providers for over 5 years. This halt has negatively impacted training quality by preventing innovation, which threatens the lives and safety of workers in high risk industries like tree care workers at the front lines of the wildfire vegetation management battle in the Western US.

This oligopoly competes directly with in-person OSHA Outreach Trainers. The current training program standards include additional apparently arbitrary restrictions that further limit the in-person trainer’s ability to compete. Outreach Trainers who have complained and sought redress of grievance have been threatened with revocation of their teaching authorization.

Who are the Decision Makers?

Contact The Secretary of Labor or D.O.G.E.

After confirmation, the new Secretary of Labor – Lori Chavez-DeRemer is in charge of the Department that oversees OSHA. However, given that this is a “Waste, Fraud & Abuse” issue, you may get better results contacting the Department of Government Efficiency by emailing [email protected]
